In 1964, Dr. Swansey began his career of study with the art of Karate. While serving with the United States Army, he was given the opportunity to train with some of the top martial artists in various parts of the world. It was during this initial period of study that he developed an intense personal interest in the philosophical, cultural, and historical foundations of the Arts. His thirst for knowledge in addition to his love of travel led him to study the cultures and people of Japan, China, Korea, and Okinawa. Dr. Swansey lived and studied in Hawaii for fourteen years. His interest in this foundation has contributed most significantly to his continuation of study and advancement.
Under the direction of Dr. Swansey, the International Association of Martial Arts & Oriental Medicine was established as a center for the study of Martial Arts & Oriental Medicine. Members and students have available to them courses in Acupressure, Pressure Points, Dim Mak, Natural Healing with Nutrition, Medical Qigong and Chinese Medicine. Advanced courses will be offered with the central purpose of enhancing the student's physical and mental well-being.
After years of study in the late 70's, Dr Swansey and Walter Rose combined their years of knowledge to start work on forming a new Martial Arts System. Combining the various forms of Martial Arts with the secrets of Oriental Medicine, a new system was developed named SEIBU-DO, meaning "HOLY ART WAYS".

5th Degree Black Belt - Okinawan Shorin-Ryu (Karate)
5th Degree Black Belt - Okinawan Kobudo (Weapons)
4th Degree Black Belt - Bo Jitsu (Stick Arts)
4th Degree Black Belt - Taekwondo
2nd Degree Black Belt - Shotokan
2nd Degree Black Belt - Aikido
1st Degree Black Belt - Judo
Dr. Swansey has had intensive training in Acupuncture, Nutrition, Natural Healing Arts, and Oriental Medicine. Dr. Swansey is a member of the American Association of Drugless Practitioners and is Board Certified as a Holistic Health Practitioner. He has also been awarded with the Founder of Texas Acupuncture Award in appreciation of his efforts in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Texas. Dr. Swansey is a member of the World Head of Family Sokeship Council and is on the Board of Sokes of Worldwide Grandmasters.
